641 Neilson, a lovely 2 Bedroom Spanish Med on a serene tree lined street
$760,000

532 Vincente, just a few blocks away, 3+ Bedrooms with a magical garden!
$1,080,000

532 Vincente:

On an amazing lot which goes all the way from Vincente to Visalia.. so it’s MUCH larger than it seems from curbside. Visalia is at lower elevation than Vincente... so there’s a lovely Mt. Tam, Albany/Kensington Hill North Bay View... and magical garden and deck on the Visalia side

641 Neilson:

Main Level: entry hall, living room with elegant wood-burning fireplace & coved ceilings, wall sconces; kitchen: tiled counters, vintage cabinetry (refrigerator & stove included in sale), breakfast room, formal dining.

Upper Level: two bedrooms & bath: the largest bedroom opens through French doors to a wisteria-draped balcony; it also has two closets & an enclosed sunporch.

Bonus: great extra space down is enclosed by French doors; secluded landscaped garden, flagstone patio. Hardwood floors.

What a gorgeous day and night in Berkeley!

Yesterday afternoon's view from my deck chair at Casa Serkes. The dogwood flowers are practically day-glow in intensity.

It was quite a week - put the superb home at 532 Vincente on the market, wrote several offers for Cambridge and Maplewood (from the mysterious East Coast) clients, got two offers accepted (Finnegan is no longer homeless)... and wilted in 95º weather.

So.. when Carol asked "where are you taking me to dinner" I said "anywhere you want!" Sea Salt had a 45 minute wait, so we decided to do take out from Gregoire's, then sit on our still-warm deck and dine in the company of Poudini and The Baby Terrorist.

Here's the scene on North Shattuck Avenue last night.. Since the sign warns to "Keep Off Media" most of the people on the median strip were eating Cheese Board Pizza and talking rather than listening to their iPod or iTouch!

And people want to know why I love living in Berkeley!

THOUSAND OAKS & KENSINGTON CIRCLE
A delightful neighborhood where neighbors often stay for decades! We’ve lived nearby for over 25 years.

It’s an easy walk to Solano Avenue - restaurants, cafes, coffee, book stores, banks, florists, and more. It’s an even easier walk (or rather stroll) down Visalia to the Colusa Market (great BBQ Chicken), a lovely restaurant, Semi-Freddis bakery, and the Kensington Circus Pub, a very kid friendly neighborhood place with great beer, burgers, steaks and atmosphere!

Work in San Francisco.... or downtown Berkeley? Take the AC Transit #79 bus directly to Downtown Berkeley or El Cerrito Plaza BART stations... or even the AC Transit G Line (perhaps with online wireless) to downtown San Francisco.

What would a Chemical Engineer call a 7 plex?

A Septex?

Someone asked me about multi unit, and wondered if a 7 unit building would be a septex. That got me thinking about organic chemistry names for multi units.

Ethplex
Propex
Butex
Pentex (not to be confused with the camera)
Sextex (that sounds kinky)
Septex
Octex
Nonex
Decex

OK.. time to get back to work!

Debbie was telling us what she loved about living in Berkeley's Northbrae/Westbrae Neighborhood

Debbie was telling us what she loved about living in Berkeley's Northbrae/Westbrae Neighborhood.

We'd invited Debbie to our new North Berkeley office and it was a treat to see her! It's a pleasure when clients become friends. And Debbie, Dan, Joan, and Brenda, who we saw have all become friends.

Debbie was so excited about her new home, I asked her to tell us about it.. and here's what she wrote.

We love our neighborhood in the Westbrae/Northbrae area of Berkeley. We have wonderful neighbors, many of who came buy when we moved in to say hello and introduce themselves. We can walk to wonderful neighborhood restaurants and bakeries. Solano Avenue along with its shops and cafes is within walking distance. We also have great markets just a few blocks away where we shop: Berkeley Natural Grocery, Monterey Market, Monterey Fish Market, Magnani's, Hopkins Bakery and the Country Coffee and Cheese Market. This neighborhood is truly a jewel - convenient to so many things, the houses are unique and charming, the neighbors friendly - it has a real neighborhood feel!
